Vera Alexandropoulou - Lawyer & Solicitor and Vice President, Thalassa Foundation

Vera Alexandropoulou is a graduate of the Law Faculty of the University of Athens and has completed postgraduate studies at the University of Heidelberg and Harvard University.

She was admitted to the Greek (Piraeus) Bar Association in 1998, qualified as UK Solicitor in 2004 and has obtained her Cyprus Bar registration in early 2017. Vera has worked for the Harvard Business School, FHM-a major shipping law firm in New York, Norton Rose, and is general counsel at the Piraeus Port Authority. She established the Alexandropoulou Law Firm in 2005. Vera has acquired a significant experience in sectors including commercial and corporate law, energy, banking and finance and real estate. She is involved as Chief Legal Officer with various institutions and associations, mainly in the field of energy business and fund structures and is the author of codification of Greek renewable energy and natural gas legislation, having published articles on Greek ship finance, Greek listed funds and environmental issues. Vera has also been certified as DPO Executive by TUV Austria Hellas. She is fluent in Greek, English, French, German and Spanish and understands Chinese.


Iain SHEPHERD, Senior Expert, DG Maritime Affairs & Fisheries, European Commission

Iain Shepherd is a Senior expert in the European Commission’s Directorate General for maritime affairs and fisheries. A physics graduate, he has been working for the Commission for nearly 40 years, initially in the Joint Research Centre on scientific support to EU policy in areas such as nuclear reactor safety, humanitarian aid, fisheries control and (prevention of) weapons of mass destruction. Current responsibilities include investment, innovation, knowledge and decarbonisation in the blue economy.


Petros Kokkalis - Member of the European Parliament (Focus EU Green Deal / SDG 14)

Petros Kokkalis has been actively involved in public service for the past 25 years, developing social innovation focused on human and sustainable development. He studied Modern History at the University of Hampshire, and earned his master's degree in public administration at Harvard Kennedy School of Government.

As Vice President of Olympiacos, he reformed the club into one of Europe's leading professional teams (1996-2008) through the modernization of its physical and intangible infrastructure. He was also the founding president of the Super League of Greece. He is co-founder and secretary of the non-governmental environmental organization Earth (2009 - present) whose work on environmental awareness and education for sustainable development has been awarded by the International Union for the Protection of the Environment (IUCN). He was elected and served as the Vice-Mayor responsible for economic development and climate change in the municipality of Piraeus (2014 - 2019), where he promoted sustainable entrepreneurship and support of start-ups in the maritime economy.

The European Commission has acknowledged its work, awarding the Blue Growth Piraeus initiative at the European Entrepreneurship Promotion Competition 2018. During his term of office he led the humanitarian support during the Refugee Crisis in the period 2015-2016 and served as the President of the Municipal Council for Refugees. In 2019 he was elected MEP, representing Kosmos, a political movement seeking to achieve the UN SDG’s, with the Progressive Alliance - Syriza ticket.

George Alexandratos - Vice President, Hellenic Chamber of Shipping

Mr. George Sp. Alexandratos was born in Athens in 1973. He had studied at Moraitis School and graduated with a BSc in shipping business from Plymouth University and MSc in Maritime Policy from Cardiff University. He is the director of Apollonia Lines SA which was founded in 1974 from his father Spyros who unfortunately passed away in September 2004 and that time his father apart being the founder of Apollonia Lines was also the president of the Hellenic Chamber of shipping.

In 2013 he established together with co-partners the shipping fund called Bluewater Maritime Capital targeting to invest in dry bulk shipping. George is now the General Secretariat of Hellenic Shortsea ship-owners association since February 2012 whilst during the period fromFeb 2009-2012 he was the second vice president. Also, he is a BOD at the Hellenic Chamber of Shipping, BOD at Korea registry and BOD at the marine club. Since February 2014 he is the President of the Hellenic Hull Mutual. George is interested to promote the benefits of shipping in the international economy and loves the word Hellenic and believes very much to Hellines, to Europe as soon as all the parties are united.

Chryssanthi Kontogeorgi - Head of Environmental Department, Piraeus Port Authority

Chryssanthi Kontogiorgi has been working at Piraeus Port Authority SA since 2002. She holds the position of Environmental Officer and Safety Advisor for Management of Dangerous Cargos in port area and has been leading the Environmental Protection Sector of PPA SA since 2008. She is a Chemical Engineer (NTUA) specialised on the Science & Technology of Materials (MSc, NTUA). She is also certified as Safety Advisor on Dangerous Cargos Transportation. She holds more than 18 years experience on port environmental management and since 2004 is activated on Port Environmental Review System Certification (PERS) and Ecoports Network membership. She is member of the Sustainable Development Committee of ESPO and has participated in several EU Co-financed projects as group leader of the PPA coordination and in other environmental Projects on port environmental management.

Renata Peloso - Manager, Pricewaterhouse Coopers

Renata is a Manager for Public Sector at PwC Luxembourg. She leads the Business Development axis for the world’s largest European export acceleration programme, where her main areas of expertise include market screening, identification of relevant companies for a given target sector or market, consolidation of data, evaluation and coaching of companies in their internationalisation strategy.

Renata has advised more than 1000 businesses in their internationalisation and go-to-market strategies, scanning for market opportunities, assessing their performance and readiness to go global, screening competitive landscape and reviewing their financial models.

Ingrid Kylstad - COO, Katapult Ocean

Ingrid is COO in Katapult Ocean, a seed fund and accelerator working with start-ups developing sustainability-drive technology for the ocean industries. Katapult Ocean is based out of Oslo, Norway and works with start-ups from all over the world. Before joining Katapult Ocean in 2018, she spent almost four years with the Norwegian Shipowners Association. Previous to that she worked in an EU public affairs company in Brussels, advising Norwegian companies. She holds an MSc in European Studies from London School of Economics and Political Science, and a BSc in Liberal Arts from the University in Maastricht, the Netherlands.

Yorgos Mousmoulas - Partner, Metavallon VC

Yorgos is a Partner at Metavallon VC, a €32m seed- and pre-seed venture capital fund investing in very early-stage technology startups in Greece and Europe with a clear tech differentiation, usually in the B2B space. There, he oversees 4 investments mostly in Data Analytics & ML (Intelistyle, Perc.Robotics, Tendertec, Trucksters). He was previously Investment Director at Attica Ventures, a €30m Series A fund set up with investment from the TA.NE.O. fund-of-funds and Attica Bank, where he covered the IT, Telecom, Microelectronics, Automation & Robotics, eCommerce, Logistics, and Medical technology sectors.

Sotiris Papantonopoulos - Partner, Unifund

Sotiris Papantonopoulos-Mantopoulos is Partner at Uni.Fund, a Greek VC investing in pre-seed and seed-stage start-ups and spin-offs. He is a leading Greek entrepreneur disrupting the insurtech/fintech market and an Εndeavor alumni having founded, the leading Greek insurance price comparison and online broker.

Sotiris started his career as an investment banker in the USA; he has more than eight years of experience in investment banking and real-estate private equity and advisory in Boston, New York and Athens, and holds an MSc in Management from the London School of Economics.

Dimitris Kalavros-Gousiou - General partner, Velocity Partners

Dimitris Kalavros-Gousiou is a 32yo entrepreneur and investor who works in the intersection of technology, culture and new media. He serves as Co-Founder and General Partner at Velocity.Partners, a pre-seed and seed Venture Capital Fund active in Greece and SEE.

He is best known as the Founder and Curator of TEDxAthens, the most impactful platform for ideas, dialogue and talks in Greece. Prior to his role at Velocity.Partners, Dimitris co-founded Found.ation (a leading startup acceleration and innovation hub in the Balkans), TechTalent School (a coding school) and TechTalent Pool (a recruiting SaaS for developers). 

Andreas Stefanidis - President, OESYNE Federation of Hellenic Associations of Young Entrepreneurs / Partner,

Andreas is a BlueInvest certified business coach, President of the non-profit, historical Educational Association of Athens, Hfaistos (1935), and Co-founder of the non-profit organization Academy of Entrepreneurship. Andreas holds a degree in Business Administration with Major in Management Accounting and Minor in Economics from the State University of New York at New Paltz (1994), having graduated with Magna Cum Laude honours.

He has been certified as an instructor of adult non-formal education by the National Organisation for the Certification of Qualifications & Vocational Guidance (EOPPEP) and since 2001 is a founding board member of the Federation of Hellenic Associations of Young Entrepreneurs (OESYNE) and since 2014 Accelerator Director of sustainable business Incubator. Since 2018 Andreas has been elected as the Deputy Secretary-General of the Hellenic Chinese Business Chamber and recently as Board member and Treasurer of the Hellenic Spanish Chamber of Commerce.

Mary POTHITOS, Paralegal Maritime Services

Mary Pothitos finished her degree in the UK, graduating from Law school from Wolverhampton University, UK.

After working two years to gain practical experience in the City of London, in 1989, joint the family business of shipowning and shipmanagement in Greece, Pothitos Shipping Co S.A., as the Legal and Insurance Director and later in the same post, at N.A.N.E. Shipping Management S.A. until 2014. Experienced with handling cargo claims and charter party disputes. Actively involved in the management and operation of the fleet.

In 2016 started PARALEGAL MARITIME SERVICES, offering professional assistance for efficient and cost effective management of claims. Experienced trainer. Developed and delivers the seminars: Marine Insurance and Claims Handling - for DNV GL Hellas Academy, Co-developed Salvage and Wreck Removal, Co-developed EU GDPR for shipping. Member of WISTA Hellas (Women’s International Shipping & Trading Association)

George M Teriakidis - Area Manager East Mediterranean & Black Sea, DNV GL

George Teriakidis is a naval architect and currently holds the position of Area Manager for East Mediterranean & Black sea for DNV GL. 

He has completed studies of B.Eng. in Naval architecture at the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne as well as of an M.Sc. in Ship Production Technology at Strathclyde University of Glasgow. Upon completion of his studies, he joined DNV office of Dubai, UAE as a surveyor. During his 8 year stay in Dubai, he took various roles and responsibilities. 

In August 2008 he joined DNV Piraeus and since 2013 he was responsible for the business development for DNV GL’s region of South-East Europe and the Middle East. From June 1st 2019, he holds the position of Area Manager for East Mediterranean and Black sea.

Zoe CHASSOURA - Treasurer, Worldwide Industrial & Marine Association

Ms. Zoe Chassoura is the Managing director of the company “ZEA Maritime Services Inc” which was founded in early 2009, operating from offices in Piraeus/ Greece. Since the early years of her professional career in 1988, she has been providing services to the maritime community, in the field of spare parts supply, dealing as well with the representation of major companies worldwide.

During her long involvement in this sector, she gained valuable experience, creating the proper background for establishing her own company. She has successfully attended Lead Auditors Course of BVQi (October 1998) as well as the Internal Auditors course of LRQA (ISO 9001: 2008) (December 2010), and has been certified as an affiliated member of SNAME (Society of Naval Architects & Marine Engineers), as of August 2010, always focusing on the developments and new legislations in the shipping industry, to adequately respond to the increasing demands of the marine sector. Appointed as treasurer of W.I.M.A. association since 2015.

Nikolas Theodorou - CEO, EQnomics® Consulting , Head of Aephoria Blue Growth Incubator

Nikolas Theodorou is a Business Strategist & Excellence Trainer and the Founder & C.E.O. of EQnomics® Consulting (Bespoke Business Leadership, Agility and Resilience).

Nikolas graduated school from The American College of Greece – Pierce College, completed his undergraduate studies with honours B.Sc. (Hons) in Business Economics from the University of London – Queen Mary & Westfield College, and further obtained an M.Sc. in International Finance from the University of Surrey.

Having begun his career in a number of senior regional posts within Royal Dutch Shell, he has collectively managed regions covering the Americas, Asia and much in between while his posts held executive positions in Energy (Fossil & Renewable), Technology, Shipping, and Investment Funds.

Dora Trachana - Associate, Uni.Fund

Dora Trachana is an Associate at Uni.Fund VC, a Greek VC investing in pre-seed and seed-stage start-ups and spin-offs. She has been working on building the deal flow and the transactions, while, at the same time, she is supporting the portfolio companies on business planning, product and sales pipeline management and financial monitoring procedures.

Dora has coached more than 90 national and international teams during the early stages of incubation, virtual acceleration and corporate innovation programs in five years. Dora holds a BSc in Management Science and Technology and an MSc in Information Systems both from the Athens University of Economics and Business.

Nicola Perobelli - Head of Marketing, Marine Traffic

Nicola Perobelli is a passionate team builder with over 15 years’ experience in customer-facing roles (Marketing, Sales & CRM etc.). Although his academic background is in Law, he is currently devoted to building brands that empower people.
